Raptors guard Terence Davis is charged with assaulting a woman and criminal mischief after being arrested Tuesday night in New York City, according to Chris Bumbaca of USA Today.
The incident involved a 20-year-old woman who told police she is Davis’ girlfriend. She visited Davis at a Manhattan hotel and he allegedly hit her after a verbal dispute, causing a “substantial amount of pain” to her eye. She said he also grabbed her phone and broke the screen.
Davis, 23, went undrafted in 2019 and signed with Toronto while playing for the Nuggets in last year’s Summer League. He earned All-Rookie Second Team honors after averaging 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 72 games. Davis’ contract for next season is non-guaranteed at $1.5MM.
The Raptors released a statement saying, “We are aware of the reports, and are seeking more information.”

Raptors won’t put up with this, and this isn’t the first time he’s done something stupid – though the last time wasn’t violent.
He should be out of the league for good, but some dumb team will sign him up for a second chance just because (see Kendrick Nunn, for example).
What was his first incident? And what did nunn do?
As for the Kendrick Nunn thing, if you think he should be out of he league forever for what he did, you’re not a good person either.

It’s a shame when stupidity outweighs talent. There are a lot of good people out there that would give anything for the opportunity that some of these guys just squander.
I find it interesting that Trade Rumors closed comments about Justin Turner testing positive for COVID, but not for a man allegedly abusing his girlfriend. Like all social media, I just wonder why some things are no-go’s and others are not. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
The separate sections of Trade Rumors are run fairly independently. If a comment section gets closed here, it’s my decision 99% of the time, but I have no involvement in whether or not it happens on MLBTR.
Plus, there are a lot more trollish/ugly commenters on MLBTR. Hoops Rumors is a much better environment because even though there are some regulars that get picked on a bit and some regulars that just don’t have a clue, no one here is really ugly to each other. And if anyone ever is ugly, everyone usually calls them out for their actions.
How can guys be so stupid? Like he’s got the whole world ahead of him, an opportunity to be an NBA player and everything that comes with it and he’s going to throw it away because apparently he’s a jerk who hits woman!? Look obviously we don’t know all the facts and people make mistakes but hitting a woman is never okay… maybe he needs help and if so I hope he gets the help he needs. But it’s just so sad that people who seemingly have everything and opportunities ahead of them could throw it away by being so dumb!
