Central Notes: Hill, Oladipo, Jackson, Bulls

Sweet-shooting Bucks backup point guard George Hill may be on one of the best teams in the NBA as he visits the Pacers, but he will always be an “Indianapolis boy” at heart, as the Indianapolis Star’s Dana Hunsinger Benbow details.

An alum of Broad Ripple High and IUPUI, Hill has been a solid NBA mainstay since being drafted in 2008. Hill apparently does not harbor much nostalgia for the Pacers, who traded him in the 2016 offseason to the Jazz. “I hope we beat them (by 20),” Hill said. “The Pacers didn’t want me.” The 46-8 Bucks sure do. Hill is connecting on an astronomical 51.1% of his 6.4 three-point attempts per game this season.

There’s more out of the Central Division:

  • Though Pacers shooting guard Victor Oladipo has been back on the court for seven games, he knows he has yet to reclaim his All-Star caliber play, per Royce Young of ESPN. “I missed a whole year of NBA basketball, not just basketball,” Oladipo said. “It’s the highest level of basketball. It’s different.” Oladipo is averaging 11.1 PPG, 2.9 APG, and 2.0 APG in 25.0 minutes per contest.
  • Oft-injured Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson is in the final season of his five-year, $80MM contract, but the Pistons may not want to buy him out due to their limited options at his position, according to Keith Langlois of Pistons.com.
  • The slumping Bulls, losers of six straight games and owners of a paltry 19-36 record, offer more intrigue over the rest of this season than meets the eye, per Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times. Cowley notes that head coach Jim Boylen, several young prospects, and even Chicago’s front office decision-makers might be fighting for their futures with the franchise during the 2019/20 home stretch.

  1. Bulls really should be sold out of respect for Chicago but at worst they should fire everyone from paxson down, paxson actually said they didn’t make a move at the trade deadline because “we don’t know what we have” and he actually called Zack lavine untouchable, I mean wow talk about delusions

The dangerous-looking D-Rose “era” broke up in Chicago without a finale. I never liked the new stars Lavine, Dunn, Markannon, Valentine. The Bulls could break up now but nobody is calling with offers!

A near-forgotten Valentine is salvageable though, is he not? Solid variety could include PG (!?), 3s, a strong (hopefully more mature) personality, Big10 MVP.
And Gafford to back up KLove, nice. Just sayin.

    • Lavine, Dunn, Markannen, Valentine arent star. they are bench player in good team.bulls must trade them.bulls need some great player like jrue holiday, joel embiid, etc.trade Lavine, Markannen, Valentine, wcj, thad, sato, opj, felicio and some 1st round.

You had me onboard until you said Jrue Holiday is a great player. Above average PG? Yes. But he’s not someone you build a team around.

        • Jrue so underrate.he is great two way player.i know he isnt as good as pg13,kawhi,ad,lbj,gianis, but ill take him over klay, derozan,or westbrook.and i dont say bulls to build around him.i said joel embiid too.with them bulls can go througt 2nd round playoff.still not championp, but its way better than if bulls build around zach

Maybe my “salvageable” was too strong a word– the other Bulls are not worthless by themselves. I was thinking of players who could be plucked by another team looking to take advantage of the situation there. Valentine can be annoying but would shift to a learning mode with the Cavs, and also, could be given some charge there on the floor, automatically putting him in sync.

Beyond frustrating. Nothing will change as long as JR owns the team. His loyalty to his pocketbook and inept front office clowns has rendered both the White Sox and Bulls irrelevant jokes. Major market teams that barely get any local recognition and get zero national ink.

I am out of Insults for the Front Office Of Chicago Bulls I Do like Lavine But I’m not sure he a Centerpiece but I believe he can be a Vital Piece|Markannen was Overhyped but Boylen is a certified joke he is a Bootleg Thibs with a personal that wants to score not defend|Why would you Bench Valentine for Hutchinson who hadn’t played all Year Long
