Stephen Curry Expects To Play Again This Season

Warriors star guard Stephen Curry will require another surgical procedure on his broken hand but he’s optimistic he’ll play again this season, he told Anthony Slater of The Athletic and other reporters on Monday (Twitter link).

Curry is aiming for an early spring return from a broken left hand. He underwent surgery at the beginning of the month and is expected to miss a minimum of three months.

He’ll need another procedure in a few weeks to remove the pins securing the broken bones, Slater adds in another tweet.

“I have to get a second procedure done, beginning of December probably, remove some of the pins there,” he said. “So swelling is going to be of the utmost priority early in the rehab process, to give me a chance to come back and get my range of motion back pretty quickly.”

There’s also some concern about nerve damage. Curry said he experienced some nerve irritation and that will be closely monitored. He won’t be allowed to travel with the team until after the New Year

“Nerves are tricky,” he said. “They can come back quickly or over a sustained amount of time. … When you’re dealing with hands, that’s where it gets tricky.”

Curry suffered the break against Phoenix on October 30. The Warriors had gone 1-5 since the injury heading into their game with Utah on Monday.

Golf game is probably going to be a little bit rusty when he gets healthy.

I guess there will be an asterisk beside whatever team wins the championship this year because the Warriors had injuries.

Just like the two Rockets’ titles (so far) because of MJ (94-95).

The fact you acknowledged this is shocking. The fact you said (so far) ruined any respect you were gaining. Go away.

Only an asterisk if LeBron isn’t in the Finals. Last year’s Raptor’s ship didn’t actually count.

Yup and in 2016 it was becauae Draymond got suspended for 1 game in a 7 game series. Warriors 5 peat hypothetical champions.

      • Scoreboard. 3 NBA championships in 5 years. You don’t see it very often. Nothing to be ashamed of and a tremendous accomplishment. Any team that does it today.

There will be an asterisk beside the 2050 NBA champions because the 2019 Warriors will have all retired. Hypothetical 34-peat dynasty.

    • To play with all the rookies and get ready for next year championship run. Rest of the NBA can see next year they will not have such a easy time without the warriors.

Warriors winning a championship without KD??? Comedy. And 2015 is not a valid reason anymore, thats going to be 6 years removed from when you claim the next championship run is.

        • Just look up at the banners. They’re not coming down anytime soon. And really I’m talking about any team at any time.

A Championship is a championship and all teams have injuries, adversity, and can sign free agents. Just look at the banners and quit whining.

Celtics won 8 (7 ?) in a row in the 60s because they deserved to win because they had the best team. The banners ? They’re not coming down.

Same with the Lakers in the 80s and the Bulls in 90s. Hire a GM and build your roster. Manage payroll and get the best players. That’s what it’s all about so get it done. Small Market or Big Market, everyone plays with the same salary cap and with the same basketball.

The Warriors window is closed shut. Even when they get Curry and Thompson back in 2020 it won’t make any difference in their title chances.

    • The longer the layoff the tougher it is to come back. Even 13 games at the end of the season will help next year quite a bit.
