Karl-Anthony Towns Reveals He’s Tested Positive

Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns has tested positive for COVID-19, he revealed on his Twitter account.

His announcement came shortly after the league postponed the GrizzliesTimberwolves game on Friday due to coronavirus issues within Minnesota’s team.

Towns, whose family has been devastated by the virus, said he will “immediately isolate and follow every protocol.”

“I pray every day that this nightmare of a virus will subside and I beg everyone to take it seriously by taking all of the necessary precautions,” Towns said.

Towns lost his mother and several other relatives to the virus. In his statement, he expressed concern for the health of his father and sister.

President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas says it is “heartbreaking” that Towns tested positive, especially with what the Towns family has been through with COVID-19, ESPN’s Malika Andrews tweets.

“It’s a lesson for all of us. Basketball is a microcosm of society right now…this virus is powerful,” Rosas said.

Rosas confirmed two players have tested positive and another is out due to contact tracing, Andrews adds in another tweet.

The Timberwolves previously announced that power forward Juan Hernangomez would isolate for at least 10 days due to health and safety protocols and that point guard Ricky Rubio would miss Friday’s game due to those regulations.

I don’t think the NBA is surprised by this. Look what happened in NFL and MLB. They’ll keep it moving.

People do not understand exponential growth. It starts out slow and seemingly innocuous but it can snowball very quickly. Think of the U.S. in Feb when there were a dozen cases. That is the time to clamp down hard because it becomes much more difficult later on…as we have seen. The NBA is learning that lesson now.

    I am sad

I strongly suggest that NBA goes to Bubble for 6 weeks first, then do the next

KAT you should be the most careful. It shows how serious this virus is. KAT more than any other athlete knows the consequences of this virus. This should be a strong message to the NBA. To the players to get their act together. Stop the childish selfishness behavior.

Yeah? And you know what he did to get it?

You tend to flap your lips a little too much but what else do you expect from the Knicks Keyboard Patrol.

I guess you must know. Are you in his room. I’m going to assume you don’t have good reading comprehension. So I’m going to excuse you.
All I said was. He knows better than all of NBA. Cause it’s been very personal to him. So if he can catch it. Cause I assume he is the most careful. Then anyone can catch it. Especially those who don’t seem to take it serious. Only thing I flap are your ears mate. Try and keep up.

Personal strength does not matter if the issue is only a positive test. That Towns tested positive proves nothing, nor was there there a ‘how’ in the article. Contact tracing can only provide likely odds, which is why it might get hidden in announcements.

    • Midrange

Hernangonez tested positive earlier. Probably got it at practice. I don’t know what KAT did to make you say that.

ahem, who is osaegthong, and why the pronoun ‘we’, and what are you talking about.

      • osaegthong

im talking bout how harden and kyrie were violating covid guidelines. nvm

  3. The Howler

KAT should be concerned because his immune system is similar to his family members so he may be more likely to suffer severe consequences. Every age group has a higher risk of dying from COVID-19 compared with the seasonal flu.

    • x%sure

You forgot to say Towns has reportedly lost seven family members to covid, including for sure his mother. Someone needs to say so instead of all this insinuation!

    No news there.
Since the team’s 1989 inception the FAILURE VIRUS has constantly been present on the Timberpuppies…..
