As we did with 2022’s offseason trades and the in-season swaps from 2021/22, we’ll be keeping track of all the NBA trades completed this season, updating this article with each transaction. This post can be found anytime throughout the season on our desktop sidebar under “Hoops Rumors Features,” or in our mobile menu under “Features.”
Trades are listed here in reverse chronological order, with the latest on top. So, if a player has been dealt multiple times, the first team listed as having acquired him is the one that ended up with him. Trades listed in italics have been agreed upon but are not yet official. For more details on each trade, click the date above it.
For more information on the specific conditions dictating if and when draft picks involved in these deals will actually change hands, be sure to check out RealGM.com’s breakdown of the details on traded picks.
Here’s the full list of the trades completed during the 2022/23 NBA season:
- Lakers acquire Rui Hachimura.
- Wizard acquire Kendrick Nunn, the Bulls’ 2023 second-round pick, either the Lakers’ or Wizards’ 2028 second-round pick (whichever is least favorable), and the Lakers’ 2029 second-round pick.
- Note: The Lakers acquired the Wizards’ 2028 second-round pick in a prior trade.
- Spurs acquire Noah Vonleh and cash ($1.5MM).
- Celtics acquire the Spurs’ 2024 second-round pick (top-54 protected).
Can a team just make a move already? There are too many teams that are mid and poorly constructed and have underperformed. What’s been the holdup besides December 15th and January 15th?
I agree, I think the Raptors, Wiz, Pacers, and Bulls all need to make moves. And that’s just play-in level teams in the East. Detroit, Orlando, and Charlotte should be selling guys too. I think San Antonio, Houston, OKC, and Utah need to start selling guys off too
Agreed. Plus there are a lot of “contenders” that are missing pieces and young guys with game that need playing time to develop.
The stove is hot but the fire is cold
I think Indiana and Utah being better than expected, along with there not being a couple of dominant teams in the west is why it’s been so quiet thus far.
It’s time for the Lakers to move on from LeBron and Davis. This Lakers team is so dysfunctional, I don’t think bringing in another all star player will help. They tried with Westbrook and that was a complete disaster. They need move on from the big three and start over (and I’m not saying a complete rebuild like the Celtics did a decade ago). I’m proposing a number of trades so they get NBA talent back, get younger and faster, keep their own draft picks, and add draft picks.
This is my proposal:
1. LA Lakers trade with Washington Wizards that’s a win-win for both teams.
Washington Wizards get:
– Anthony Davis (C) and 2 years left on his contract
– Patrick Beverley (PG) and his expiring contract
LA Lakers get:
– Kyle Kuzma (PF) with 1 year left on his contract
– Kristaps Porziņģis (C) with 1 year left on his contract
– 2 unprotected 1st round draft picks
– 2 unprotected 1st round draft pick swaps
2. LA Lakers trade with Chicago Bulls that’s a win-win for both teams.
Chicago Bulls get:
– Russell Westbrook (PG) and his expiring contract
– 2 unprotected 1st round draft picks from Washington Wizards
– 2 unprotected 1st round draft pick swaps from Washington Wizards
LA Lakers get:
– Zach LaVine (PG/SG) with 4 years left on his contract
– Alex Caruso (PG/SG) with 2 years left on his contract
3. AFTER THE END OF THE SEASON, LA Lakers trade with Golden State Warriors that’s a win-win for both teams.
Golden State Warriors get:
– LeBron James (PF) and 2 years left on his contract
LA Lakers get:
– Andrew Wiggins (SF) with 4 years left on his contract
– Jordan Poole (SG) with 4 years left on his contract
– 2 unprotected 1st round draft picks
2023/24 Lakers Starters:
– Kristaps Porziņģis (C)
– Kyle Kuzma (PF)
– Andrew Wiggins (SF)
– Zach LaVine (PG/SG)
– Jordan Poole (PG/SG)
Think about it, Kuzma wants to come back and LaVine wants to be traded to the Lakers. LeBron will help himself and GS win another championship (possibly 2). Losing is not in his DNA and that’s what’s happening now.
And, the Lakers get prove. NBA talent back, get younger and faster, keep their own draft picks, and add draft picks. Win win for all teams.
And, LeBron is playing the best basketball of his career and I see him playing at a high level until age 45 (like Tom Brady).
